NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE -2019


            Terrafirm Global Academy for Design and Innovation offers crash course for preparing for NATA exam starting from March20, 2019 to April 11, 2019. The course is offered in the City Centre Campus, Kadavanthra. The class covers General Aptitude, Drawing, Mathematical Problem Solving, Mock Tests and Studio Tests as well.

                   
General Aptitude covers drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil, architectural awareness, architectural terminology, identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities and colour, historical and contemporary buildings of Architectural importance, Architects and their works, and awareness of persons, places, buildings etc. of Architectural importance.

                      The Drawing aspect of the course covers Aesthetic Sensitivity as well as Creative Sensitivity and Memory Drawing. The aesthetic aspect focuses in fields of Aesthetic, Sensitivity and Drawing Skills, Analytical Reasoning, Mental Ability, Drawing scenes from imagination, Elements of Design: Lines, Form, Mass, Solid etc, One point, two point and three point perspective drawings,Generation of plan, elevations and 3D views of objects.

                      The course also covers basic architectural ideas of design including Principle of Design such as Rhythm, Harmony, Symmetry, etc. Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms, Development of 3 Dimensional objects from two-dimensional shapes or vice versa, Visualizing different sides of Three Dimensional objects, Theory of colours – colour wheel and colour psychology and composition using colours.

                      Other areas of focus includes scale and proportion ,Freehand sketching of objects and Activities commonly seen in the rural or urban/suburban context such as Interior furniture, Street furniture. City elements, landscape, Buildings, bedrooms, balcony, Playground, Markets, Railway Platform, Bus Stop, Exhibitions etc.Enlargement & Reduction of Drawings, Mirror image, Bird’s view, Worm’s view, Human eye-level etc.

Principles of design are the concepts used to create a structured/organized arrangement using the basic fundamentals/elements of design. These principles govern the aesthetic quality of the artwork/design and make it visually appealing to humans. The five major principles are:   Balance  Proportion  Rhythm  Emphasis  Unity BALANCE Just as we perceive the physical sense of balance, balance in design is the visual equilibrium of an artwork/design. It is the combination of elements put together in opposing forces to create a composition that is visually stable. These compositions can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. Symmetrical balance  or formal balance is described as having equal ‘weight’ on both the sides whereas asymmetrical balance or informal balance is more complex and revolves around the idea of balancing the visual ‘weight’ around a fulcrum point.                                       The importance of Interior Design in our lives                                        Interior design is first and foremost about the beauty of the space. It is important due to the aesthetic value it possesses and the simple fact is that having your house look nicer is eventually going to make you feel better.                                       We believe that interior design is about the aesthetics or beauty of the space, but it actually isn’t. Interior design is also about how a space makes you feel and how it affects our emotions while inhabiting it.                                       Interior design is majorly about how to make a space look good, but environmental psychology studies have confirmed the ability of interior design elements to evoke positive or negative emotional response in people. These theories have existed in Indian Vaastu shastra, Chinese Feng Shui etc.
